There were two game modes: 50 Waves and Endless. There was also no indicator for what enemies the upcoming waves would send out. No information was given regarding the stats of neither the turrets nor the enemy units, making it difficult to gauge the exact damage output of turrets. The game could be fast-forwarded by tapping the corresponding button. The turrets also blocked grounded units' path, adding an element of strategy for path and maze construction to hinder the enemies' progress as much as possible.
Using gold, the player could select, place and upgrade turrets on the map to attack and eventually kill these enemies with targetting priority given to the frontmost opponent. Players had a limited amount of lives which were lost whenever an enemy breached the exit point.

When a gem or tower receives the max amount of MVP's (10 MVP awards) they receive a special aura with a range of 600 (radius of 2 tiles) that increases damage of nearby towers and gems by 75%. Towers or gems that do the most damage in a single round are awarded a MVP bonus which boosts their damage and decreases magic resistance (10% and -10% respectively) of nearby enemies. They take shortest path available between the checkpoints. The attack phase involves creeps passing through five checkpoints in order around the map before reaching the Gem Castle. To finish the build phase, players must select one of the options below: Each gem you place will be random unless you have skills that increase the chances for certain types of gems. The player must have a balance between building the maze itself and having gems in the right place in order to maximize their effectiveness. Players must place 5 gems during the build phase and then pick only one gem that will remain while the rest will be turned into stone. The game consists of a build phase and an attack phase. In response, players can combine gems and towers to increase their damage. Waves get increasingly difficult as the game progresses and each wave will have different skills that add to the challenge (magic immune, ability to disarm, flying, physical immune, etc). Players must defend their Gem Castle by constructing a long winding maze that creeps will follow and allow for their towers to do maximum damage before they reach the Gem Castle.
